Pune university warns students against admission to Synergy School of Commerce
Savitribai Phule Pune University has issued a public notice advising students not to enrol at the college for 2026-27, after an inquiry found it was not operating at its registered address and lacked affiliation.

Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has warned students not to take admission to any course at Synergy School of Commerce, run by the Synergy Foundation, for the 2026-27 academic year, according to reports published on 12 October 2026 by The Bridge Chronicle and Pune Pulse.
The university's public notice cites the absence of affiliation and alleged regulatory violations. Pune Pulse reports that the notice was issued by the university's Affiliation Cell.
How the inquiry began
Both outlets say the matter surfaced when a student complained that the college was refusing to issue her transfer certificate. When university officials could not reach the college by phone, SPPU formed an inquiry committee.
Committee members who visited the registered address did not find the college operating there. The university also learned that the institution had moved to another address without the required approval. The Bridge Chronicle reports that the inquiry raised further concerns about staffing, including the lack of a principal and adequate teaching and non-teaching staff.
Dr Dhananjay Mandlik, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management, told The Bridge Chronicle the college was "not functioning at its officially registered address." The university has reported the matter to Maharashtra's Directorate of Technical Education and to the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
No response from the college was reported, and no individual has been accused of an offence. The reports do not say how many students are currently enrolled.
Checking a college before admission
SPPU has urged students to confirm an institution's affiliation status before seeking admission. In practice, students and parents can check the affiliating university's list of affiliated colleges, confirm the approval status of professional courses on the relevant regulator's website, and visit the campus at the address on record. A college that cannot issue routine documents such as a transfer certificate is a warning sign.
