EIILM University was dissolved by Sikkim Cabinet on 28 April 2015 under Section 47/48 of EIILM University Act 2006. The name of EIILM University has been removed from the UGC list of universities. Sikkim HRDD confirmed in 2018 that EIILM closed in April 2015 and is still not open as of date.
DEC RECOGNITION — ONE YEAR ONLY
DEC recognized only 3 programmes for 2009–10 only within Sikkim only. Recognition never extended beyond 2009–10.
NO OFF-CAMPUS CENTRES PERMITTED
UGC never granted any permission to establish off-campus, study, or off-shore centres. Not even within Sikkim without UGC approval.
WEBSITE BANNED
UGC 508th meeting (27.07.2015) resolved to approach Ministry of DEITY to ban and block the EIILM website for misleading students.
REPLACED BY SIKKIM ALPINE UNIVERSITY — 2021
Sikkim Alpine University (formerly EIILM University), Kamrang, Namchi, Dist. South Sikkim – 737126 was established/notified on 28.08.2021 as a State Private University. It is included in the UGC list under Section 2(f). Website: sikkimalpineuniversity.edu.in — This is the only legitimate successor entity at the same location.
