How to read our records

We label material by what it is, so readers can tell a claim from a finding. A report about one institution is not a statement about private universities in general.

Allegation
A complaint, media report or claim that has not been tested by a regulator or court.
Official record
A reply or document issued by a public authority, for example under the RTI Act. It shows what that authority stated, as of its date.
Regulator notice
A public notice or order from a body such as UGC, AICTE, NCTE or BCI.
Court finding
A finding recorded in a judgment or order. Interim orders can change.
Final decision
A decision that closes the matter, such as a final judgment or a completed regulatory action.
