Fake Degree Racket Busted in Delhi

A major fake degree racket operating in Delhi has been uncovered, where individuals were selling forged academic certificates for amounts ranging from ₹20,000 to ₹2 lakh. Authorities discovered that fraudulent documents were being issued for various educational levels, including bachelor’s and master’s degrees, without any actual coursework or examinations. Several arrests have been made, and investigations are ongoing to identify more individuals involved in this illegal operation.

During an on-ground investigation, the Education Fraud Check (EFC) team visited the university linked to this scam. The university has three buildings within Shillong, Meghalaya, and another hidden facility in a forested area along the Guwahati-Shillong highway. Local sources informed us that degrees issued through agents were processed at this remote building, while records of regular students were maintained at the main campus.

Our investigation revealed shocking irregularities at this hidden facility: the building had no electricity, no water supply, and no faculty or administrative staff present. The facility was solely used for fraudulent activities. Only two individuals were stationed there, responsible for collecting applications and money from students, promising that their degrees and documents would be delivered via courier. The overall situation appeared highly suspicious, reinforcing concerns that this location was established exclusively for fraudulent operations.

EFC remains committed to exposing such deceitful practices and ensuring that genuine students are not deprived of their rightful opportunities due to academic fraud.
